Hackers On Planet Earth, marking 2600 Magazine's 10 year anniversary, was the first conference in the series by the same name. It took pace in New York City, from August 13th to 14th of 1994. Well over 1000 people, from near and far, were in attendance at this gala event.

This landmark two day conference --that started it all-- was held in the historic Hotel Pennsylvania. It came about when the Summercon organizers asked 2600 if they would like to host the conference, that year. Instead, 2600 wound up starting something new and becoming the first "really big" hacker conference in the United States. It was loosely organized, as should be expected many hacker events, but well conducted. Speakers from around the world made presentations ranging from privacy issues to technology to politics to methodologies.
