Note that the general parking lot is for daytime only. All overnight parking needs to be in the parking structure near Gate 6. The exception is that people with current handicap/accessibility tags can park in a labeled accessible spot in the general parking lot overnight. Access to campus after 11 pm is via Gate 6 only. Get your parking pass at the InfoDesk in Marillac Terrace!

HOPE Registration Desk is in the Marillac Building's "Terrace" cafeteria, on Level 2. There are some signs to help you get there.

Note that the general parking lot is for daytime only. All overnight parking needs to be in the parking structure near Gate 6. The exception is that people with current handicap/accessibility tags can park in a labeled accessible spot in the general parking lot overnight. Access to campus after 11 pm is via Gate 6 only. Get your parking pass at the InfoDesk in Marillac Terrace.

Michael Ang (CA/DE) is an artist and engineer who creates light objects, interactive installations, and technological tools that expand the possibilities of human expression and connection. Applying a hacker’s aesthetic, he often repurposes existing technology to create human-centered experiences in public space and the open field. Countering the trend for technology to dissociate us from ourselves and surroundings, Michael’s works connect us to each other and the experience of the present moment. He is the co-inventor of the Infl3ctor, the projection system for Digital Calligraffiti.

Michael’s work has been shown internationally at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, ISEA, Media Architecture Biennale, transmediale, White Wall Beirut, Gray Area Foundation For The Arts, Art Hack Day, NASA Ames Research Center, SPEKTRUM Berlin, Urban Media Art Academy, Calligrafreaks, Citilab Cornellà, and many others. He holds a Master’s Degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University, USA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He currently lives and works in Berlin.

Micky is involved in the “free software for community building” movement
and the Platform Cooperativism movement. She helps Agaric's work
contribute back to these movements. She also handles some administrative
tasks, public outreach, and support as part of the team. She is a
worker/owner of Agaric and a member of the “free software for community
building” movement - using tools like Drupal, BigBlueButton video chat
servers and GNU/Linux. Micky helps people use free software and the
Internet to take control of their online presence and stay safe. She
started building vibrant online communities in 1996 by building one of
the first and largest Role Playing HTML chat sites on the Internet and
hosting one of the first peer-to-peer text-based hacker chatrooms for
people to learn HTML, as well as being a pioneer in online video chat
servers and creating an early site like YouTube.

The 13th Hackers On Planet Earth (HOPE) conference will be held from July 31st to August 2nd, 2020 at St. John's University, Queens, New York City. H.O.P.E. stands for Hackers On Planet Earth, one of the most creative and diverse hacker events in the world. It's been happening since 1994.

Thousands of people from around the world come to HOPE. Please join us for three full days and nights of activities, including more of the provocative and enlightening speakers that the HOPE conferences are known for. In addition, we have access to a massive amount of space to put together all sorts of hacker projects and assorted fun stuff.

In the past we've had huge hackerspace villages, film festivals, Segway rides, lock picking villages, a wide variety of vendors, art installations, live video, vintage computers, robots, an amateur/ham radio station, electronics workshops, book signings, and the country's biggest supply of Club-Mate.
