A New HOPE is Happening in 2022!

A New HOPE is a THREE DAY EVENT, spanning from Friday, July 22nd through Sunday, July 24th, 2022. The event is live and in-person, at our brand new wonderful location:
St. John's Univeristy, in Queens, New York City.
A New HOPE will include scheduled talks, panels, workshops, keynotes, geeky vendors, food, art, concerts, performances, and much more!

As with all HOPE conferences, you will be able to watch all of the talks for free online, live-streamed. They will also all be recorded and available online after the conference.

Virtual Attendance

All in-person attendees also get access to the full virtual program. This includes the online Matrix chat, and the ability to watch livestreams of all talks.

See the Matrix How-To for information on getting connected to Matrix for chat and Q&A.

The livestream links will be posted just before A New HOPE begins, and will be via YouTube and other mechanisms.

A New HOPE is also live in the Mozilla Hubs 3D virtual world. Click HERE to enter Hubs.

NEED A TICKET?

We have a Ticket Exchange wiki page for connecting people who want a ticket with people who have extra tickets.

Your Arrival at A New HOPE, Parking, and Pedestrians

Everyone attending A New HOPE must provide proof of vaccination before getting their conference badge (see the COVID-19 Safety item, below). Once you provide your proof of vaccination, you will next go to the Registration Desk to get your badge. Your badge is for all 3 conference days, so don't lose it.

If you are parking on campus, use Gate 6 to park in the parking structure. You will get a parking pass when you get your badge, to display on your dashboard (yes, you need to walk to provide proof of vaccination, then to Registration, then back to your vehicle - sorry about that). Parking is free, and for the entire conference.

For the Gate 6 location, see the St. John's campus map. Driving directions from the west: Head west on the Grand Central Parkway and exit right at 188th St. At the light make a left and then an immediate right and stay on that street until you get to Utopia Parkway. Stay on the service road and make a left on 168th St and a right on Goethals Ave and Gate 6 will be right in front of you.

If you are taking public transportation, you will likely enter via Gate 5. Note that Gate 6 is the only entry between 11pm and 6am for pedestrians or drivers, and you will need your conference badge for admission to campus.

COVID-19 Safety

All in-person attendees for A New HOPE need to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Attendees will show proof of vaccination upon check-in. This will be separate from registration and we will NOT save that information. (This allows you to attend the conference under an alias while filling the above requirement.)

All attendees will be required to wear a mask indoors at St. John's University throughout A New HOPE.
