Workshops

Hackers On Planet Earth (HOPE) is an annual event that happens each summer in New York City.

HOPE will be a THREE DAY EVENT, spanning from Friday, August 14th through Sunday, August 16th, 2026.
The event is live and in-person, in New York City.

HOPE will include scheduled talks, panels, workshops, keynotes, geeky vendors, food, art, concerts, performances, and much more!

As with all HOPE conferences, you can watch all of the talks for free online, live-streamed. They will also all be recorded and available online after the conference!

NOTE: THIS WIKI PAGE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Not all info is yet current for HOPE for 2026.

Tickets for HOPE

We will soon have tickets available for this summer's HOPE.
You will be able to purchase in-person tickets here.
You will also be able to purchase in-person at the HOPE Registration Desk at the event. Tickets are available at the door starting on the first day of HOPE on August 14th.

Virtual Attendance

You can also attend this summer's HOPE virtually!
You will be able to buy your Virtual Attendee ticket here.
All in-person attendees also get access to the full virtual program. This includes the online chat, and the ability to watch livestreams of all talks.

HOPE Scholarship Program

Even though the ticket prices for HOPE are as low as possible, some people -- including many students -- say they can't afford the price. Other people have offered to donate a ticket for those who can't afford to buy one.
The HOPE Scholarship Program is a way that students and others who can't afford HOPE admission can attend for FREE thanks to the generosity of HOPE supporters. Here's how it works:
If you want to donate an admission to HOPE, go to
our Scholarship page
and fill out the form. If you want to apply for a scholarship, just email
       scholarship AT hope DOT net
Students should send an email message from their school email address (if possible). Mention your current academic status (school, year, and program) and write 50-200 words about why you are interested in attending this summers' HOPE. Non-students should send an email message briefly describing your situation and what benefits you anticipate from attending HOPE.

Livestream Information

During the event, the 2 main talk tracks will be live-streamed

Click here to join the online Matrix chat. You will need the token from your ticket. Tickets are sent a few days before HOPE begins. If you have a Matrix login from a previous HOPE event, it should still work for Matrix.

Ticket Exchange

If you have a ticket to give away or trade, or if you want a ticket for HOPE, then you can try using our
        Ticket Exchange wiki page.

HOPE Schedule App

We should again have a HOPE Program app, a privacy-friendly conference schedule app with strong offline capabilities. It will run on all Android devices.

Workshops

A lot of diverse workshops will be scheduled throughout HOPE!
Each workshop has its own wiki page that includes a description, materials cost (if any), day/time/location, and other useful information.

Most workshops will happen in workshop rooms but there will also be many workshops at Villages at HOPE.

The Workshop schedule will also be posted on the HOPE website on the:
HOPE Schedule page.

Please note that any materials needed to participate in hands-on portions of certain workshops will be available at cost. In all cases, observers are welcome for free. For specific details, visit the wiki page for the workshop.

NOTE: There will be NO workshop pre-registration. All workshops are first-come, first-served.
Some workshops may be given twice.

Villages

HOPE will have lots of cool Villages, where cool things may be happening at any time! Some have scheduled workshops, films, and performances as well. Each Village has its own wiki page. There is an index of Villages on this wiki.

There will also be a large area with plenty of tables and chairs and AC power where anyone at HOPE can create a Village. At past HOPE conferences, there have been Villages for Lock Picking, Hardware Hacking, lots of hackerspace villages, tea making, anarchists, and many others.

All Villages will be listed on the Villages page of this wiki.

The Villages will also soon be posted on the HOPE website on the:
        HOPE Schedule page.

Please note that any materials needed to participate in hands-on portions of certain workshops will be available at cost. In all cases, observers are welcome for free. For specific details, visit the wiki page for the workshop.
